Hand-knotted in a traditional shimenawa motif, the hemp rope used for purification rituals in the shinto religion, and then dyed in a deep natural indigo, this beautiful noren makes an elegant wall hanging or doorway curtain. 

The historic center of shibori, the Japanese art of manual resist dyeing, since 1608, Arimatsu still produces high quality hand-knotted and dyed work from their traditional workshops on the outskirts of modern Nagoya.
